My mornings are fairly predictable. I awake and walk the dog, make breakfast, and go into my studio. At that point the predictions stop as I start to work and even though I begin with a foundation for the composition of a piece, I welcome all the surprises the painting reveals to me.
This is the alchemy, that which cannot be explained and this alchemy is what makes the viewer and myself see what is beyond the image. This only comes from many failures, like mining for gold, and one day as a fruit of those labors; it can be said Eureka ! I’ve found it ! (Or it found me)
To attain this is the artist’s life.
