I have shown work in and and attended many exhibitions, but even to this day; there is a great intimidation factor.
It may be the hyper socializing; the apparent reason that the artwork takes second fiddle to being seen and heard….
It may be after creating in a fairly solitary space of focusing on the process that the aforementioned environment becomes “noise” and detracts from what the artist conveys….
It may be that such is not the artist’s place, their place is in the room of making the piece happen ….. This is not to detract from artists attending or seeing exhibitions and feeding upon them, connecting with those that do see beyond the superfluous. I do enjoy visiting museums and good exhibitions, they can be cathartic and uplifting.
These days of art fairs and a myriad of works exhibited can be antithetical to what I would like to achieve. There is all kinds of information shared and thrown at us daily. For my work I want a quiet space even in a room filled with cacophony.
